This set of recs is a little bit of a departure for me, because I'm usually all about the sex (quelle surprise!), or at the very least, the romance. But every so often you find a nice little pre-slash story, and when it's done well, it still gives you all the feels :) If only they didn't have to end so soon!

Summary: Draco has issues.

Look at the date this was published - immediately after the release of DH. How does one write such a lovely fic so fast? Not only nicely written, but with a clever ending, and one which makes a lot of sense. And yet even all these years later, it's rare that I've seen another story that tackles the wand issue so well.

Summary: A very odd (it's pretty weird) story about obsession and atonement.

Lovely, fascinating, unusual little story. Draco suspects Harry has a cancerous mole on the back of his neck, and as pure-blood wizards don't get cancer, the wizarding world knows nothing about it. He takes it upon himself to warn Harry and make him see a specialist. There's a nice sequel to this story (Heart of Glass), but that one is no longer pre-slash :)

Summary: Who could have imagined that Draco Malfoy was this easy to talk to, when he wasn't being a git?

I like the premise and the execution of this so much. It just a brief scene between Harry and Draco behind the scenes at some ministry function, but the conversation is in character and the insights they each gain about the other are well depicted.

Summary: The war is over and Harry doesn't quite know what to do next.

Oh, I liked this one a lot. An interesting idea for Harry's thoughts and actions immediately after the battle. Just wish it hadn't ended :)

Summary: The Slytherin House, more specifically Pansy and Blaise, have been unamused by Draco’s behaviour lately. It has been decided that the perfect punishment would be to give Draco a love potion that would make him act like a love sick puppy around Potter. Nothing happens and the Slytherins can’t figure out why.

Not bad at all, and a cute idea. The ending is beautifully bittersweet too.
